Oaks at dusk - John Sexton

This photo is really amazing, another by John Sexton from http://www.dearnogallery.com/artist_portfolio.php?name=18.
I love the movement in this photo, even though there is no color I feel that there is so much movement my eyes can't stop following the twisting and curling branches throughout the image. It really astounds me how well the shadows and highlights are placed in John Sextons photos, almost every photo I look at of his impresses me even further. This skill is really something that comes with practice, good eyes, and experience, I can only dream for such a skill.

Corn Lily - John Sexton

This is a photo by John Sexton, from http://www.dearnogallery.com/artist_portfolio.php?name=18.
I like this image first of all because it is something I would photograph, so I feel like I can relate to the the image and what the photographer was thinking and trying to capture. I really like how you can see the texture in the petals. I also feel the highlights and shadows are nicely balanced and emphasis is placed in an eye-pleasing manner.

Research Project - John Sexton

For my research project, I have chosen the photographer John Sexton. Sexton worked for Ansel Adams from 1979 to 1984 (when Adams died). I choose Sexton for my research project because I love his work and I think his work most closely resembles what I try to achieve in my photos and what I enjoy most in photography, which is nature imagery.
